Hello everyone,

When I was a child we had a system called “TL’s”. This stood for Tell Last and what it meant was that you had heard some compliment about a friend or relative, but the teller of that compliment to the friend or relative had to remember first, (or lie!) about someone who had given the receiver of the compliment a good comment!! Hence the expression “Tell Last!”

Oh! The experience of life! A much more helpful way to open up conversations, give people a lift and raise self-esteem is to give the genuine and sincere compliment first to the individual!

Take it from me, the more you give, the more you find you’ll receive.

To say “that necklace looks really good on you” is a lovely remark, but it becomes stronger when you say why you think so; “that necklace looks really good on you because it matches your eyes.” You can even follow that up with an open question of “where did you find it?”

It takes confidence and self-esteem to notice good things about others and to make the first caring move to tell them about it.

A sincere compliment is always a welcome boost to someone’s day.

A compliment is like a gift, so just say thank you.

Have an excellent day and try to find a compliment for one of your family or colleagues!
